NYC Columbia Connects 2017: Mary & Michael Jaharis Simulation Center Tour

To celebrate Columbia Connects, join the Columbia Alumni Association and The Mary & Michael Jaharis Simulation Center for an exclusive tour of the 20,000 square foot state of the art facility housed within the recently opened Vagelos Education Center on the campus of Columbia University Medical Center/New York - Presbyterian Hospital.

The Simulation Center was borne out of a joint venture between the two entities and as a result has positioned itself to be a premier medical and procedural training facility that brings together a wide range of learners starting with medical students all the way to clinicians in practice thereby providing a continuum of life-long learning. A unique feature of this center is the innovatively designed Anatomy & Bioskills Laboratory that houses 30 surgical stations spanning approximately 6000 square feet. This complements the two operating suites that not only allow for procedural instruction but also incorporate team training. 14 OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Exam Rooms) allow for our Columbia Medical students to conduct medical exams on Standardized Patients ( Actors) who portray a wide variety of patients encompassing all medical modalities. High fidelity simulators from mannequin based training's to specialty procedural simulators allow for medical student, nursing, resident and physician based skills simulation training. Woven throughout this facility is a state of the art A-V integration system and conference space.
